Title: Light From a Burning Bridge
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kelleigh
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] blondebitz
Genre: RPS
Pairing: Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles
Rating: NC17
Word Count: 38K
Warnings: Off-screen Character Death. Mentions of life-threatening situations. Discussion of traumatic events.

Summary: Sometimes you get the brightest light from a burning bridge. Jensen Ackles is no stranger to loss. His parents are gone and today he’s burying his only brother after a rescue gone wrong. Jensen knows the tradition—that the fire department would send someone to help him as a way of honoring their late captain—but the last thing he needs is another firefighter hanging around, reminding him of what he lost. He especially doesn’t want to see this particular firefighter.

Jared Padalecki was wild, cocky, and always chasing the next rush. After parting ways three years ago, Jensen thought he’d never have to see him again. Little did he know that Jared had been transferred to his brother’s station just months before his death, catapulting them back into each other’s lives. Now, if Jensen has any chance of climbing out of this darkness, he’s going to have to accept a lifeline from the man he swore he’d never forgive.

ART MASTERPOST from [livejournal.com profile] blondebitz

This story was born from my love for 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Firefighters, am I right? This is entirely a work of fiction, and I make no claim to understand the realities of being a first responder, except that I have the utmost respect for those that do this kind of work. At first, I was really hesitant to even attempt this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang given everything that's happening in the world. I wasn't sure I could take on a large project with actual deadlines, but I'm happy I pushed through. The world needs more Firefighter!AUs ♥

The concept of assigning firefighters to help out a spouse/significant other/family members after a tragedy is a real tradition, though I doubt this is the intended result :P

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] blondebitz for making such a portfolio of art to go along with this story! I'm glad you were so enthusiastic going into the challenge. Thank you for being so patient, especially during these tough and crazy times ♥ I hope you had fun for this round of Big Bang!

This story would not have been possible without the help of [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, [livejournal.com profile] ashtraythief, [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali, [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte, and [livejournal.com profile] quickreaver. Our "Defend your Draft!" ZOOM discussions over the last few weeks made all the difference! I might have cried and complained a lot about your suggestions (WRITING IS HAAAARD), but they made this a better story and I'm very very grateful! You ladies are the best. Remember, when in doubt, add more Chad.

BIG thanks to Jerzcaligrl for the beta work throughout this entire process! Thank you for being patient with me and for taking the time to be so thorough ♥ ♥

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] wendy for taking the time and bringing us this Big Bang challenge year after year! I was grateful to have it amidst all the craziness we're dealing with, and can't wait to read the other contributions.

Title: Fire Front
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kelleigh
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] sweetheartdean
Genre: RPS
Pairing: Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles
Rating: NC17
Word Count: 41K
Warnings: Age Difference. Mild Violence and Injury.

Summary: Before his 18th birthday, bitter foster kid Jensen Ackles was given a choice between prison time or military service. He chose the latter and spent the next decade channeling his rage into training and multiple tours overseas. When he’s finally discharged, he moves to Boston to live with the only person who ever gave a damn about him, but the anger that’s plagued him since he was a teen refuses to let him settle into a normal life. Pushed to the brink, Jensen discovers the world of illegal fighting and uses it to burn the violence out of his system. Empty warehouses, rundown factories, and foreclosed clubs become the arenas where Jensen fights for money and relief.

One night, after emerging victorious from his latest challenge, he finds a young man waiting for him, offering him a prize he won’t refuse. Jensen sees so much of himself in the skinny, stubborn kid, and he’s torn between his desire to corrupt and his need to protect. Jared Padalecki is lost, working at a small diner and trying to make ends meet. He’s stuck between a home that doesn’t want him and a dangerous world filled with people who wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of him. Jensen finds himself fighting to keep Jared from repeating his own mistakes while at the same time battling the rage inside him. Will it consume him before he can save Jared, or is Jensen the one in need of saving?

ART MASTERPOST from [livejournal.com profile] sweetheartdean

Notes: This was a story idea that I came up with a long time ago and never got around to writing. When BB season rolled around, I pulled it back out and gave it another go. It morphed from a simple PWP into a 40K+ behemoth in almost no time at all. I’m glad I finally finished it, as it took me to several unexpected places!

Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] sweetheartdean for choosing my summary and for coming up with three AMAZING pieces of art to illustrate the fic! You understood what I wanted so well, let me spam you with pictures of Jensen’s ridiculously amazing facial hair, and let me convince you that Tahmoh Penikett is absolutely WONDERFUL. I’m so happy we got to work together on this, and your art so amazing, I can only hope the story lives up to your work.

Many, MANY hugs to [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep who kept me going throughout this entire process, even though we THOUGHT we could keep our Big Bangs under 25K for once. Needless to say we failed, but not miserably ♥ ♥ ♥ I never would have finished this story without your encouragement, and I truly appreciate your work as a beta for making this story the best it could be. You are the best and I love you!

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] wendy for bringing us this Big Bang challenge year after year! I wish I could quit you :)

Three years ago, the world lost one of its heroes. Jensen Ackles, known to most as ‘Reactor,’ gave his life to save thousands, perhaps even to save our way of life. Jared Padalecki was there that day, amidst the ruin and rubble of battle, holding Jensen in his arms as he died. In the aftermath, as society mourned the loss of their superhero, Jared buried his husband on a quiet Texas hillside.

Now, Jared’s living as a shadow of his former self, unable to move beyond his loss, when the arrival of a strange object from deep in outer space sets in motion a series of events that challenges everything Jared thought he knew about Jensen’s past and hoped for their future. From old friends showing up at his door in Vancouver to a secret military base in the middle of Texas, Jared will go and risk everything, including his own sanity, to get Jensen back. But is Jensen still the same man he loved for so long, or will Jared lose him all over again? This time, the battle isn’t about saving the world - it’s about saving what they had.

Cri de Cœur | big bang 2016 | master post

title. Cri de Cœur [The Heart’s Cry]
author. [livejournal.com profile] kelleigh
artist. [livejournal.com profile] stormbrite
genre. SPN FPS
pairing. Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
rating. NC17
words. 38000
warnings. Show-level violence and gore. Sex. References to pre-series Wincest.
summary. Sam and Dean could use a break after banishing God’s sister to the far reaches of oblivion. However, a new case drops into their laps when they receive a message sent to the Men of Letters using a strange old code. The name Campbell makes it impossible for them to refuse. The hunt takes the Winchesters back to Charleston, South Carolina, a city they haven’t been through in almost twenty years. It plunges them into the obscure and bloody history of an old plantation where ghost sightings and a consuming madness mean the clock is ticking.

Using every resource they have, including the help of the last Campbell ancestor in the South, the testimony of a powerless ghost, and the expertise of a handsome young historian, Sam and Dean need to uncover the truth behind the haunting before it claims another innocent victim. Based on the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper.

Written for the 2016 Round of [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang.

notes. This story is set in an imagined Season 12 and thoroughly ignores the majority of Season 11. In my version, Chuck never got involved, they were able to banish Lucifer again, and Sam and Dean were forced to find a way to lock Amara back in her cage. This was my attempt at writing an ‘episode’ of Supernatural.

While technically a sequel to my pre-series story, Don’t Let it Ride You, this can be read as a stand-alone. All you need to know is that Dean and Sam’s relationship ended when Sam left for Stanford and hasn’t resumed.

BB beta?

So I ended up with a fairly early posting date - June the 10th - which pushes up my need for a beta! Is anyone out there willing to give this story a chance, whether it's only for spelling grammar issues, only for plotty-type things, or both? I'd seriously be open to any kind of help. At the moment, I could probably send the first half of the story which I've combed over and filled in the blanks.

Offering cookies, future beta!services in turn, and eternal gratitude.

And in case you don't know the specifics, it's a Sam/Dean case fic set in a vague Season 12, and technically a sequel to Don't Let it Ride You (though the boys haven't been involved for 15 years or so).

Team Sequel 2016!

Well, you all know what this is about... [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang 2016! I had no idea what to write (well, maybe I had too many ideas but none of which could be fleshed out in the limited time I had), until I thought about setting another Sam/Dean story in Charleston. Mostly because in our road-tripping adventure, [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte and I came upon old church ruins/cemetery filled with the graves of Campbells. Um, hello?! And since I wrote a pre-series story like that yeeeeeeeeears ago, I figured, hey! Why not a sequel set fifteen years later?

Cri de Cœur [The Heart's Cry]

Sequel to Don't Let it Ride You.

Fighting God’s sister took its toll on the Winchesters. Dean and Sam could use a break, but a new case drops into their laps when they receive a message sent to the Men of Letters using a strange code. The name Campbell makes it impossible for them to refuse. The hunt takes the Winchesters back to Charleston, South Carolina, a city they haven’t been through in over fifteen years. It plunges them into the obscure and bloody history of a plantation house where ghost sightings and a consuming madness (that’s somehow connected to the hideous yellow wallpaper in the house’s nursery) mean the clock is ticking.

The case requires the help of the last Campbell ancestor in the South, the testimony of a powerless ghost, the social media of the plantation's latest victim, and the expertise of a handsome young historian, Sam and Dean need to uncover the truth behind the haunting before it claims another innocent victim. Based on the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper.

Teaming up with [livejournal.com profile] stormbrite for this one!

Kind of exciting to write a current case-fic, albeit one set after Season 11.

Big Bangs and Other Happenings.

I'm still not 100% sure I'll have time to finish a draft, but I'm doing my best to participate in [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang again this year. Can't break the streak now, can I?

Honestly I had no idea what to write! After #Jaxcon, I brainstormed a few ideas with [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep but nothing really stuck. I don't know where it came from, but I finally settled on the idea of writing a sequel to an old Sam/Dean story that's always been one of my favorites, which just happened to be set in Charleston. I'll take any excuse to write about my beautiful city, as the new story brings them back to the Lowcountry for a hunt :P

I'm so excited to write case!fic again. I've missed writing Sam and Dean, and this will be my first Sam/Dean Big Bang in like five or six years.

It's going to be EPIC. Charleston setting, hunting on oak-lined plantations and in old Southern cemeteries, classic wincest angst, and a hunt based on one of the best, if not THE BEST, short ghost stories of all time (which I'm shocked SPN hasn't used yet), The Yellow Wallpaper.

Now if I could just finish the damn thing! I haven't had a lot of time to write - traveling for work, store stuff, and taking an impromptu trip up to Washington D.C. to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] one_2_3_4 and play tourist before hanging out with all the #DCcon gals! Besides getting to see [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte, and [livejournal.com profile] riyku, I also got to meet more lovelies like [livejournal.com profile] souslelys, [livejournal.com profile] rozearkana, and more! So much fangirling - it was exhausting but so worth it.

#Vegas? Yes.
#New Orleans? Also, Yes.

What about you guys? How's BB writing (or other writing!) going?

Well, it's FINALLY HERE.

title. Anagram
author. [livejournal.com profile] kelleigh
artist. [livejournal.com profile] yanyann
genre. RPS AU
pairing. Jensen Ackles/Jared Padalecki/Tahmoh Penikett. Jensen/Tahmoh.
rating. NC17
words. 42000
warnings. Explicit Sex. Threesome Sex. Voyeurism. UST. Eventual three-way relationship. Bisexual character [Jared]. Other pairings include Jensen/Other [past] and Jared/Jensen [imagined].

summary. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles met in college, two English majors who eventually became inseparable. Their friendship led them to accept teaching positions at the same private high school. Nothing could come between them until Jared—unable to come to terms with his own bisexuality—decided to set Jensen up on a blind date with his handsome gym-buddy Tahmoh Penikett, a former Olympic swimmer turned coach. Through falling in love, pulling away, and more than their fair share of sexual tension, the three men need to figure out a way to coexist together before their individual relationships crumble for good. Like an anagram puzzle, there might just be more than one way to fix this unexpected love triangle.
