I've been wondering about the ethics of being in the fandom these last few days, after I read about some of the craziness - I mean, are we, the people who can make the psychological distinctions between the actors, the characters they play, and their RPF dopplegangers, somehow encouraging the behavior of those who are incapable of making those distinctions by doing the things we do? Or should we continue to provide good role models by being enthusiastic and fannish but knowing where the line of appropriate behavior is? I dunno.

I certainly hope you're right about Jared and Jensen understanding that these people are outliers; unfortunately it does seem to be one of the side-effects of wanting to be an actor, these days, which is too bad.
