Look what I did, Ma! And a story pimp :)

I don't even know how this started! [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep and I were talking about her (now newly posted) Law and Order-esque story when she was writing it, and the subject of art came up. It probably began as "will you make me a banner?" and turned into 65+ graphics in one general theme for a 65K+ story. I had a blast, not just because it was one of my best friends, but because I rarely get to do art and I was so excited about the story!

So, no way I can include all the graphics in my first ~official~ art post (eeeep!), but here are a few, and I'm just proud. And, even though I had all of the locations, dates, and times for the scenes, I haven't gotten to READ the story yet even though I know it's amazing because I had snippets (I wanted to be surprised), and now I'm planning to get my butt right over there and jump in -- YOU SHOULD DO BECAUSE [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep IS AWESOME. SHE KNOWS COPS, YO.

IN THIS WINDY CITY
MASTER POST
Authored by [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep | 65,000 words | Rated NC-17 | Jared/Jensen

Chicago Homicide Detectives run themselves all over the city to tie together
a handful of bodies, a potential scandal with a local Alderman,
an unnamed dirty cop, and a possibly even dirtier partner.

In Chicago, it's not just the wind that'll get you ...

For all of the banners and title images, I used a mix of my Chicago photography and images of the actual Chicago locations where the action's taking place. In some cases, [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep had to go and take the pictures for me! I wanted to carry the red (Jensen) and blue (Jared) themes throughout the banners, plus it looked great against the stark and grainy grays of the locations.

THE SOUNDTRACK

I love how the background images on the soundtrack turned out. Plus, both pictures use my own photographs of the Chicago skyline! Capturing images in Jared and Jensen's silhouettes was a theme I tried to keep throughout.

END CREDITS

They just had to be smiling at the end even though dugindeep threatened an unhappy ending! ;)

SECTION HEADERS
Check the story to see the 60+ of these I made for every scene change :) Since the story was semi-inspired by Law and Order, it seemed totally fitting to have these to tell the reader (and show!) where the action was taking place.

Check out the rest, and READ THE STORY, FOR GOODNESS SAKE here at the MASTER POST and leave some love!

Thank you for saying ALL of this! I don't get to do art very often -- I'm very picky with myself about the things I make so I'd hate to disappoint someone -- but when I do I have so much fun with it! Plus working with my best friend was a bonus :D

The colors were inspired by all the Law and Order title cards over the years -- the blue and red always stood out to me. I love stark black and white, too, so combining them seemed like the best thing to do.

And since [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep is not only a writer, but a very picky font person! We had to pick the best font to go with the story :)

Thank you!
